Elsie Handwoven Natural Ramie Bamboo Shade
Elsie shades are handwoven from 100% ramie. Uniform fine basket weave in ecru white. The color reads as ecru white, uniform fine grid.
Unlined, the weave filters roughly half the light, taking the glare off a window while the room stays bright. Privacy Lining blocks 50–75% of the light and Blackout Lining 96–100%, so light and privacy can be matched room by room.
The Ecru White tone suits minimalist rooms — pair it with any neutral palette — it holds without competing. Every shade is woven by hand and made to your exact measurements — no two are identical, and that is the character of a natural material.

Why They Are Loved
- Bold Woven Texture: A chunky weave with real depth to it — the texture reads clearly from across the room and gives the window visible craft.
- Half the Light, Softly: Unlined it filters roughly half the light. Privacy Lining blocks 50–75%, Blackout Lining 96–100%.
- Handwoven, Never Identical: Each shade is woven by hand, so slubs, knots, and fiber variation make every piece one of a kind.
- Durable and Pet-Resistant: Sturdy natural fiber stands up to daily use and playful pets, reducing the need for replacements.
Customization Options
- Shade Style: Standard for a conventional shade, or Top Down Bottom Up for windows that open from both the top and the bottom — useful on tall windows above a cabinet or desk.
- Lift System: Cordless for a clean, cord-free look · Continuous Cord Loop for precise control and easy raising of larger, heavier shades · Remote Motorized for fingertip adjustment.
- Mount Type: Inside mount sits within the window frame for a clean tailored look · Outside mount sits above the frame, covers more of the window, and blocks more light.
- Lining: Unlined for the softest, lightest feel · Privacy Lining blocks 50–75% of the light · Blackout Lining blocks 96–100% for complete darkness.
- Edge Binding: Optional edge binding on the woven edges. Unbound edges may fray slightly over time; binding reduces that, improves durability, and gives the edge a cleaner finish.
- Valance: A built-in valance finishes the top of the shade. 6" valance on shades 18" and above, 4" on shades under 18".
- Side Covers: Matching side covers are included by default for outside-mount shades, concealing the operating mechanism and closing the side gaps.
- Color: Available in the shades listed above — see each color for its character.

Specifications
Inside Mount Deduction
- Do I need to adjust my measurements for an inside mount?: No. Enter the exact net window opening size — deductions are applied automatically. Do not add to the width to make up for deductions.
- Outside mount is measured differently: This deduction applies to inside mount only. For outside mount, measure the area you wish to cover including the trim, then add your own overlap.
- For more light coverage: Choose an outside mount.
Recommendations
- Order a swatch first: Because texture and color vary by nature, we strongly recommend ordering a swatch booklet before ordering customized shades.
- Order the room together: To keep texture consistent, order shades for the same room in the same order.
- Matching pleat sizes: Shade orders of different heights may not show identical pleat sizes. Use the longest length in the room for every shade, and keep the same lift system.
- Add edge binding: Natural woven shades without edge binding may fray over time. Binding reduces that and improves durability.
- Height planning: For shades 18" and above the valance is 6"; under 18" it is 4". Check your shade height before ordering so the proportion stays right.
No Drill
- Applies to: Corded Lift
- Size range: 18" – 50" wide
- Note: A no-drill mounting bracket is included for shades 18–50 inches wide with the corded lift system.
Good to Know
- Natural material variation: Shades are made by natural materials, which may gradually change color over time. It is normal for the finished shade to differ a little from the sample book.
- Each shade is unique: Natural materials grow into long, short, straight, or curved shapes, so every shade carries its own distinctive texture. Two shades from the same color will not be identical.
- Unlined shades may cast slight shadows: The hardware at the top of the headrail is part of the lift system. Unlined shades may cast slight shadows during the day.
- Edge binding and fraying: Natural woven shades without edge binding may show minor fraying over time. If an edge binding does fray, simply trim the loose fibers.
- Blackout lining reads darker: Blackout lining may make the shade appear slightly darker. This is a natural effect of the lining, whereas an unlined shade looks brighter in the light.
- Do not tamper with the lift: After unboxing you only need to install the brackets and hang up the shade. Do not modify or tamper with the lifting mechanism behind the shade — this causes damage and voids operation.
- Light gap is expected: A small light gap of approximately 1/8" – 1/4" on each side is necessary for smooth operation. Outside mount with more coverage blocks noticeably more light.
- Order a swatch first: Because texture and color vary by nature, we strongly recommend ordering a swatch booklet before ordering customized shades.

Measuring — Inside Mount
- Definition: The shade is installed inside the window frame. This gives a clean, tailored look that shows off the window's trim, and suits minimalist rooms or smaller spaces.
- Minimum depth: Your window frame must be at least 2 3/4" deep for a flush fit. If the depth is insufficient, the shade may protrude from the frame.
- How to measure — Width: Measure the inside width of the window frame at three points (top, middle, and bottom). Use the SMALLEST of the three measurements.
- How to measure — Height: Measure the inside height from the window sill to the underside of the top jamb at three points (left, center, and right). Use the LARGEST of the three measurements.
- Factory deduction: Enter the exact net window opening size. Deductions are applied automatically — do not add to the width yourself.
Measuring — Outside Mount
- Definition: The shade is installed on the wall above the window frame or directly on the trim. This style makes windows appear larger, gives the best light blockage, and can hide unattractive window frames. Matching side covers are included by default.
- How to measure — Width: Measure the total width of the window area you wish to cover, including trim. Then add extra width for overlap.
- How to measure — Height: Measure from the desired top mounting point down to where you want the shade to end.
- Width overlap: We recommend adding 2 – 3 inches on each side (4 – 6 inches total). This ensures full coverage and eliminates light leakage from the sides.
- Height overlap: We recommend mounting the shade above the top of the window frame so the stacked fabric sits above the glass when fully raised, maximizing your natural light.
- Protruding hardware: Be sure to account for any protruding hardware like cranks, locks, or handles that might interfere with the shade's movement.
Measuring — Measuring Tips
- Round to 1/8": Round to the nearest 1/8". If a measurement falls between two eighths, round DOWN for width and UP for height. Example: 24 9/16" → 24 1/2" for width, → 24 5/8" for height.
- Check your shade height: The valance is 6" on shades 18" and above, 4" under 18". Confirm your height before ordering so the proportion stays correct.
- Always measure three points: Never assume the nominal window size is the actual opening. Measure at three points and use the smallest width and largest height.
Installing — Installation
- Time required: Installing takes approximately 15–20 minutes.
- Step 1: Mark and drill — position the brackets on the window frame or wall at the marked height.
- Step 2: Secure the brackets — use the provided pointed screws (1 3/16") to fix the bracket into the frame, then attach the wing nut with the flat head screws (1 3/16").
- Step 3: Clip the shade onto the brackets until it clicks into place.
- Pre-assembled: Your shade arrives pre-assembled and ready to install. There is no assembly beyond mounting the brackets.
- Printed guide: A printed installation guide is included with your finished order. For a digital copy, contact us at lucohome@outlook.com.
- Do not modify the mechanism: To ensure proper performance, do not modify or tamper with the lifting mechanism behind the shade.
Care Information
Routine Cleaning
- Dust weekly with a soft brush, or a vacuum on its lowest setting with the brush attachment. Work along the weave — going across presses dust in and pulls fibers loose.
- A few loose surface strands are normal on woven plant fiber. Snip them off, do not pull.
Marks and Stains
- Do not wet-clean. Woven natural fibers stain permanently when wet and warp as they dry. A water mark will not come out.
- For a dry mark, lift it with a soft brush or a piece of soft bread — blot, never rub.
- For anything more, call a professional window treatment cleaner. Do not attempt it yourself.
What to Avoid
- No water. Never wash, immerse, or use a damp cloth.
- No steam or steam cleaners. Moisture and heat warp the fibers.
- No bleach, ammonia, solvents, or aerosols. They strip and discolor natural fiber.
- Do not force a crease. The fibers are stiff and crack along the fold.
Handling
- Raise and lower using the bottom rail, both hands, evenly spaced. These shades are heavy — pulling from one side strains the mechanism.
- Hold the rail, not the woven surface.
Where the Shade Lives
- Humidity is the main risk. Natural fibers absorb moisture and can mildew or warp. Keep the room ventilated — not recommended for a bathroom without good airflow.
- Sunlight: color will shift over time, usually lightening. This is aging, not a defect.
- Variation is expected: tone and texture differ between batches and across the width. Order a swatch before a custom size.
